all the books i read in 2025

In 2025, I managed to read 43 books, finishing the last one literally on December 31. Phew!

I was a pretty nerdy kid and I was a voracious reader in my childhood (definitely a side effect of the whole, childhood illness thing, but I digress!). However, like many people who make it into adulthood, reading really fell off in habits I actually attended to. I finally changed that in 2020 and started keeping track of books I read that year in the Notes app. A simple numbered list. That year I read 10 books, but that was more books than I had read in like ten years in that point, so I'm still proud of my number!

I'm not going to go into detail about each book I read, since I don't really remember half of them and I'm not someone who keeps a detailed 'reading journal' lol.

But my favorites this year were absolutely:

The Mezzanine, a hilariously specific novella about basically one day in an office worker's life and all the thoughts and micro interactions that go with it. I genuinely felt so seen by these descriptions.

Raising Hare, which I could not put down!! Obsessed. I want to live in the country and watch hares running through the fields now. I learned a lot about those little creatures.

The Notebook, a really in depth and cool history of the notebook, paper, and it's many many uses. Required reading if you're also a notebook fanatic.

Books I would suggest staying away from, however, include: Earthlings, The Catch, Princess of 72nd St. They were simply not my cup of tea, either because I found them boring or insufferable.
